Workshop: Can IUHPE become a sustainable organisation?

On Wednesday 14 July, 11:00-12:30, a workshop will be conducted on the subject of responsibilities, opportunities and challenges with regard to turning IUHPE into a sustainable organisation. We kindly invite you to join us at this workshop.

Workshop rationale
At the 19th World Conference held in Vancouver, a resolution was adopted by the membership entitled “Toward an IUHPE response to Global Environmental Change”.

This included three commitments:

  1. to examine and clarify its role in relation to global environmental change;
  2. to adopt an explicit focus on greening settings at the 2010 conference; and
  3. to examine its own ecological footprint and consider how this could be reduced and offset.
This workshop will focus primarily on the last of these three commitments: by reviewing its existing policies and practices, learning from model organizations and committing to a three year carbon reduction plan, IUHPE will greatly add to its own coherence and integrity as the global lead for health promotion.

The workshop will serve as an ‘idea and action factory’ focusing on the potential for IUHPE to become a more sustainable organization by reviewing and making changes to its own policies and practices. It will combine brief learning inputs with interactive task-focused discussion and debate (discussion groups), and conclude by agreeing next steps.
